Salem-Keizer Public Schools has announced plans to consolidate its elementary school system beginning with the 2027–28 academic year, marking one of the largest school restructuring efforts undertaken in Oregon in recent years. District officials say the proposal is intended to address years of declining student enrollment, changing population patterns and the long-term realities of operating more school buildings than current enrollment can sustain.
