CORNELIUS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Cornelius leaders are reversing their opposition to the proposed I-77 South toll lane project, citing concerns that a new provision in the state budget could force the town to repay millions of dollars in transportation planning costs if it continues to oppose the project.
“We’re not in a position to ask our taxpayers to pay for that clawback,” Mayor Denis Bilodeau said.
