Local HRC, Museum present awards at inaugural Gathered in Love Dinner

The Eighth of August Emancipation Day is coming up on Saturday, and the Hopkinsville Christian County Human Rights Commission and the local museums hosted their inaugural Gathered in Love Heritage Dinner on Sunday.

August 8 is recognized as Emancipation Day in western Kentucky and Tennessee, as that’s when enslaved people in this region first learned of their freedom in the 1860’s.
