(WJET/WFXP)– The man charged in the wake of a 2023 shooting at a downtown Erie business he owned has been sentenced.
According to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, 53-year-old Yaphet Ettison was sentenced on Friday, July 31, to 12-24 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for that shooting on April 30, 2023, at the now-defunct Super Chicken Lounge in the 1000 block of State Street.

According to court documents, Ettison was initially charged with three counts of attempted homicide; however, two of those would end up being withdrawn and prosecutors agreed not to pursue the third charge.
Court documents also show Ettison pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor reckless endangerment in December 2025. With that guilty plea, prosecutors agreed not to pursue over a dozen other charges.
