FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — The driver accused of striking two children in a hit-and-run Saturday allegedly checked on their well-being before fleeing the scene.
According to the Fort Pierce Police Department, on Saturday the two children were crossing North 25th Street at Avenue M in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by what is believed to be a 2000s gold Mercedes-Benz.
The driver, who was described as a 20- to 30-year-old man, stopped and checked on the children before fleeing the scene, the police department says.
Following the hit-and-run, one of the juveniles was taken to a local hospital and later flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries…
