BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Authorities continue searching for the body of 15-year-old Ja’Derrius Minnieweather in an East Baton Rouge Parish landfill as efforts enter a fourth week.
The Baton Rouge Police Department stated that search team members have excavated 3,400 total cubic yards of material in over 4,600 man-hours. The search started on July 13.
“We ask that you’ll continue to keep this family and all those searching in your thoughts throughout the week,” the police department said.
Minnieweather was last seen on June 5. Since then, law enforcement has arrested a man in connection with his death and started a search for the body in a landfill amid sweltering summer heat.
