BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The USWFS Idaho is reporting that the Claremont Fire has officially reached 100% containment as of 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Firefighters will remain on scene and continue to patrol the perimeter and strengthen containment lines. The Claremont Fire, which first started on July 6 near homes in the Boise foothills, burned more than 6,620 acres. A significant push by firefighters and pilots working in planes, scoopers, and helicopters fought to prevent further spread of the fire into homes and communities.
The battle against the Claremont Fire was further compounded as firefighters learned that the fire was burning in an area believed to still contain unexploded ordnance.
