Woman Rescued After Falling Over 20 Feet In Staircase Collapse

A Pennsylvania woman was rescued Sunday after falling 20 feet through a collapsed exterior staircase outside a residential building.

The Pittsburgh Public Safety Department said on X, EMS and Fire crews responded to a residence on the 3500 block of Mission Street in the South Side Slopes neighborhood at around 6 p.m. Sunday following a report that an exterior staircase had partially collapsed, causing a woman to fall 20–25 feet to the ground.

Photos of the staircase show multiple steps missing with debris on the ground below where the woman was found.

Rescuers used a rope system and a Stokes rescue basket to lift the woman to safety. She was transported to the hospital in stable condition with injuries to her lower extremities…
