Richland One accused of leaving student behind on field trip, facing lawsuit

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A father is suing the Richland County School District One after his six-year-old son with special needs was left behind during a class field trip.

The lawsuit states the child was separated from his group and left alone at Cottle Farms in Hopkins when a teacher and bus driver failed to count students before the bus drove away. Farm staff spotted the boy and called the school.
