(WJET/WFXP)– Summit Township has been awarded over $530,000 for updates to traffic lights, signals and other safety measures at several busy intersections.
Elected state officials announced the $533,988 in grant funding as part of the Green Light Go project on Tuesday, with most of those upgrades taking place along Perry Highway.
Local business holds school supplies drive
Officials said the funds come in reimbursement grants from funds used to improve efficiency and operation of traffic signals already in place.
The funding will support traffic signal upgrades at the following intersections:
- Waterford Street and Bloomfield Avenue
- Douglas Parkway and Commons Drive
- Perry Highway and Route 9016 Ramp A & B
- Perry Highway and Route 8016 Ramp C & D
- Perry Highway and Presque Isle Drive
- Perry Highway and Robinson Road
“These investments help ensure our communities have safe, reliable, and modern transportation infrastructure,” said Senator Dan Laughlin. “Upgrading traffic signals improves safety for drivers and pedestrians while helping traffic move more efficiently. I’m pleased to see state resources coming back to Erie County to support important local improvements.”
