Out-of-state fugitive arrested after cops called to Airbnb in The Villages

An out-of-state fugitive was arrested early Tuesday morning after police were called to a domestic altercation at a short-term rental in The Villages.

The incident occurred at a property in the Fussell Villas on Redding Court in the Village of St. Catherine.

According to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department, officers responded to the Redding Court rental shortly after midnight. Upon arrival, 29-year-old Jaelan Deondrae Johnson immediately handed a cell phone to an officer and admitted he had taken it from the victim, who is the mother of his child.

The victim told police she was staying at the Airbnb — which Johnson was paying for — and was FaceTiming a male acquaintance when Johnson unexpectedly showed up. Angered by the call, Johnson suddenly snatched the cell phone directly from her hands. When the woman reached out to try and retrieve her phone, Johnson used his free hand to shove her away. He then took the device outside and intentionally withheld it from her until law enforcement arrived…
