Florida Department of Transportation crews have been demolishing SW 66th Street bridge over Interstate 75 in Marion County over the past week, embarking on a yearlong project to replace the frequently struck overpass with a “taller, wider,” and safer design.
In a recent video update provided by the state, FDOT Operations Engineer Mike McCammon detailed the meticulous process crews are undertaking to safely dismantle the existing structure above the highway.
McCammon explained that the state is beginning to demolish the overpass to replace it with a taller, wider, and more modern structure that will enhance the traveling experience for the public.
