A cold front slowly dropping through the state is the lifting mechanism causing showers and thunderstorms to form and move across Iowa. The Weather Prediction Center has highlighted (yellow in the images below) parts of central and southern Iowa for a slight chance for heavy rainfall tonight and Wednesday.
