LINCOLN, Neb. — Bryan Health celebrated its 100th anniversary by unveiling a time capsule sealed nearly 40 years ago. The capsule, originally sealed on June 5, 1987, at Bryan East Campus, commemorated 60 years of service to the community. It contained historical items such as photographs spanning six decades, a volunteer smock, a brick from the 1926 energy plant, restraining straps from a psychiatric unit, and “fun run” shirts from that year’s celebration.
The opening event on Tuesday afternoon, featured several guests who attended the original 1987 ceremony. Among them are Harold Lyon, a maintenance technician who helped seal the capsule, and Tom Henning, a former member of the Bryan Board of Trustees whose name appears on the capsule. Henning is the retired chairman, president, and CEO of Assurity.
Bob Ravenscroft, System Vice President at Bryan Health, highlighted the significance of connecting with the past. “It’s having the younger generation or next generation, really embracing matters in the history and the heritage and care that you care and hear in the future,” said Ravenscroft. “It’s really been a big part of our 100th celebration and it’s been fun to see our young professional association get really involved in engaging this activity in other ones that we’ve had throughout the year.”…
