Bellevue is turning Tuesday evening into a neighborhood block party with a public-safety twist: National Night Out arrives at Downtown Park with live music, food trucks, reptiles, games and a free movie. The family event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. today, giving residents a chance to meet Bellevue police outside the usual flashing-lights context.
Bellevue Police and the Bellevue Police Foundation are partnering with Movies in the Park for the celebration, according to the City of Bellevue’s event listing. The program is built around the usual National Night Out goal of making police-community connections feel more personal—and considerably less like a formal appointment.
A city Facebook post adds a bouncy house, kids games and a drone-as-first-responder demonstration to the lineup. There will also be food, ice cream and a live reptile exhibit, because apparently the fastest route to community bonding runs through snacks and alligators…
