HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Evansville Fire Department (EFD) dealt with a fire that displaced two people and caused one dog to go missing.
According to firefighters, early Wednesday morning, around 3:15 a.m., dispatch received multiple calls reporting large amounts of smoke and visible flames coming from a residence in the 3200 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue. The EFD says it responded to the scene and declared a working fire upon arrival. Crews found a carport and camper heavily involved in fire, with extension into the attic of the residence.

Firefighters say they encountered challenging conditions inside the home while conducting searches to ensure all occupants had safely escaped. During firefighting operations, a portion of the home’s east side collapsed. Firefighters worked to contain the fire and to prevent further spread. The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes.
Officials say no injuries were reported to occupants or firefighters. One dog was unable to be located. The American Red Cross was requested to assist two displaced adults as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation…
