A proposed rezoning would allow buildings up to 180 feet tall on a small stretch of waterfront land along Lady Bird Lake, on three parcels currently zoned under lower-density East Riverside Corridor rules.
Austin City Council took up the draft ordinance at its July 23 meeting. The measure would pull roughly 1.437 acres at 1705 and 1717 South Lakeshore Boulevard and 1712 East Riverside Drive into the existing South Shore Planned Unit Development—a 20-acre mixed-use district anchored near Town Creek Drive that was first approved by the city in 2009.
