The family of a woman killed boat crash on the Fox River last month plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit Thursday, with lawyers calling the incident that left 48-year-old Magdalena Jablonska dead a “horrific, tragic, avoidable accident.”
Jablonska’s fiancé was also injured in the crash, which occurred the afternoon of July 25 along the Fox River south of the McHenry Dam in McHenry. Richard Stevenson, of Lisle, faces multiple charges in the case, including DUI and reckless homicide.
Prosecutors say Stevenson was traveling at 80 mph when he slammed his high-powered pontoon into the boat Jablonska was riding in while both vessels were in a slow zone.
