A man charged in a racially motivated attack on an 80-year-old black Villager is back behind bars after enjoying a few days of freedom.
Kyle David Parrish, 37, of Umatilla, is charged with attacking a black veteran and retired educator living in the Village of Charlotte. Parrish allegedly told the Villager he didn’t want “his kind” living there and that he had better leave during the incident in April.
Parrish was released July 31 from the Sumter County Detention Center after posting $25,000 bond. He was booked back at the jail on Wednesday following his arrest on a fresh warrant charging him with contempt of court. Details of the new charge were not immediately available, but suggest Parrish may have violated the conditions of his bond. Among the conditions of his bond was the warning to stay at least 500 feet away from the Villager he allegedly attacked and his home. The Villager has previously indicated he was “terrified” at the idea of Parrish being released.
Parrish also got into trouble after a July 19 altercation with his cellmate. Parrish is facing an additional charge of battery after he allegedly head-butted his black cellmate and directed a racial slur at him…
