As summer continues across North Carolina, researchers say some mosquitoes are becoming harder to control, while state health officials are also monitoring West Nile virus cases reported this week in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.
Tiger mosquitoes in Wake County are developing resistance to pyrethroids, a common insecticide used in residential and commercial mosquito control programs, according to researchers at North Carolina State University.
