AUSTIN (KXAN) — More than three decades after four girls were killed at a north Austin yogurt shop, hundreds of prosecutors, forensic experts and investigators gathered at the 2026 Cold Case Conference to learn more about how the case was finally solved.
At the conference in San Antonio earlier this year, Austin Police Department Detective Dan Jackson and former prosecutor Mindy Montford walked other cold case investigators through breakthrough elements of what became known as the “Yogurt Shop Murders” case and the evidence that led them to identify Robert Brashers as the killer of the four girls in 1991.
Additionally, conference attendees heard a different message from keynote speakers Shawn and Angie Ayers. Shawn’s sister, Amy, was the youngest victim in what became known as the “Yogurt Shop murders.” Amy was just 13 years old when she was brutally attacked and shot by Brashers…
