HOUSTON – Drivers on Houston’s east side should prepare for a full weekend closure of a stretch of westbound Interstate 10 next week as crews complete asphalt repairs.
The Texas Department of Transportation announced that all westbound lanes of I-10 between Freeport Street and Uvalde Road/Market Street will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
According to TxDOT, the closure is needed for asphalt repair work.

- Westbound I-10: Between Freeport Street and Uvalde Road/Market Street
- Closure begins: 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14
- Closure ends: 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17
Detour
During the closure, motorists traveling westbound on I-10 will be required to:
- Exit at Uvalde Road/Market Street (Exit 779B) to the frontage road.
- Continue along the frontage road past Uvalde Road.
- Merge back onto the westbound I-10 main lanes.
