St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) offers grants to homeowners for rainscaping

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – When heavy rains fall, the Metropolitan Sewer District of St. Louis (MSD) is working with residents to keep stormwater from overwhelming the region’s sewer system — and offering money to help them do it.

The MSD Rainscaping Small Grants program reimburses homeowners after they add rainscaping techniques to better manage stormwater runoff. Single-family households can receive up to $4,000.

Bridget Reddick, who lives in a home near Tower Grove Park, availed of the program several years ago. She said when she moved in, her small backyard had patches of grass and steep brick slopes that sent rainwater straight into the alley and storm system. A local landscaper told her about the grant…
