BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WLOS) — The Town of Black Mountain could still be months away from deciding on a permanent emergency operations center after its former Public Safety Building was condemned earlier this year, leaving police and firefighters operating from temporary locations.
The building was deemed unsafe in March, forcing the police department to relocate to a retirement home while the fire department moved into a church and an additional temporary facility.
“I’ve never seen where public safety is working out of a retirement home, and fire is working out of a church with an ad hoc house,” Black Mountain Police Chief Steve Parker said. “These conditions are not good.”…
