Holy Transfiguration Church Hosts 33rd Annual Middle Eastern Food Festival on Labor Day Weekend: September 5 & 6

Holy Transfiguration Melkite Greek-Catholic Church will host its 33rd annual Middle Eastern Food Festival, September 5 and 6, on the church grounds located at 8501 Lewinsville Road in McLean. The Festival will showcase authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, traditional pastries, music and dancing, vendors, church tours, a silent auction, and activities for all ages.

Join in the fun from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Saturday, September 5 and 12:30 – 5 p.m., Sunday, September 6. Smell the aromas from the outdoor grills, partake of Kibbeh, Shish Kebob, Roast Lamb, Falafel, Hummus, Tabouleh, and Stuffed Grape Leaves, along with a wide selection of other regional dishes. Be sure to save room for dessert and coffee. Some of the mouth-watering Arabic pastries include Baklawa, Maamoul, Namoura and Ghraybeh. There also is Atayef, a pancake-like dessert stuffed with a delicious pistachio mixture and rose-water syrup.

Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, visit the vendors, take a guided tour of the church, or engage in a game of backgammon or chess. Children also can find plenty to do in the dedicated kids’ zone, which includes a petting zoo, two moon bounces, 18-foot slide, face painting and a variety of games…
