ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ/WVWA Release) – The Virginia Department of Health and Western Virginia Water Authority are advising some Roanoke County residents to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution, until further notice.
The affected areas are the Roselawn, Homewood and Smokey Ridge pressure zones. For all other customers, there is no need to boil water before drinking.
The Water Authority says this precaution is necessary because of “the occurrences of zero and/or negative system pressure at the waterworks due to a communication failure between the storage tank and pump station observed on Friday, August 7, 2026.”…
