Man takes plea deal in East Providence theft case

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A man who was arrested after police found roughly 200 stolen items in his motel room has been sentenced to prison.

Nelson Wilson, 40, reached a plea deal with prosecutors, agreeing to plead no contest to 11 of the 31 charges he faced, which included possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of firearm prohibited, and several counts of receiving stolen goods, according to court records.

As a result of his plea, the 20 remaining charges were dismissed.
