Willard Street bridge near Greenville’s Unity Park reopens

The city of Greenville announced Aug. 7 the reopening of the Willard Street bridge.

The bridge is located on the west side of Greenville’s Unity Park along the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail. It was originally built in 1950 as a direct connection between the West Greenville and Southernside neighborhoods.

The Willard Street bridge has been closed since March while crews replaced the existing 40-foot structure that was damaged by Hurricane Helene in 2024. Vehicular traffic and trail users were required to use detour routes during construction…
