WHITESTOWN, I.N. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Little League team had nearly a month to prepare for the Midwest Regional Tournament and after a slow start they exploded for eight runs across two innings to knock off Kearney, Nebraska, 9-5.
Sioux Falls started very slow in this ballgame allowing the first four runs before opening up a four-run inning of their own in the top of the fourth capped off with a 2-RBI base hit from Owen Thiel to make it a 4-4 ballgame.
Nebraska scored one run in the bottom of the fourth, but South Dakota went right back to the bat rack and with the bases loaded and no outs Jordy James Schapp sent a double the other way to give his team a 6-5 lead, one they’d hold the rest of the way winning it, 9-5…
