ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – An upper-level high pressure system is moving over mainland Alaska this weekend, bringing exactly what organizers of the Arctic Thunder Air Show could have hoped for: sunshine, dry conditions, and temperatures climbing into the 60s and 70s.
The timing couldn’t be better. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is expecting close to a quarter million visitors for the annual air show over the two-day stretch, and the weather will cooperate.
“We don’t always see summer-like conditions in August, so people should soak it up and enjoy it,” said Chief Meteorologist Melissa Frey reporting from the base Friday.
What to Expect This Weekend
Saturday and Sunday will feature sunny skies and warm temperatures across Southcentral Alaska. Anchorage will see highs in the low 70s, while the Copper River Basin climbs into the upper 70s. The Kenai Peninsula will reach the mid to upper 60s…
