Commercial Award: Grievous Angel
Grievous Angel, the smash burger and hotdog venue at 801 E. Main St. received the city’s commercial beautification award this month
“The Grievous Angel Landscape is really unique and utilizes some effective, but unusual species. How many landscapes in Florida have Alluadia procera or Madagascan Ocotillos incorporated in them? You usually only see Alluaudia at botanical gardens,” said Stacy Smith, Lakeland horticulturist. “A unique, eclectic, and eye-catching landscape! This is an example of how a landscape can help with the advertising of a business.”
Residential:
Ian and Amanda Lancaster’s home at 1703 Cherokee Trail was recognized as this month residential winner.
Smith called it, “A beautiful home in a beautiful setting,” with a chimney covered in creeping fig. He said, “It takes a lot of effort to maintain a landscape such as this one, and it doesn’t hurt that the home is framed with Southern Magnolia, Live Oak, Camphor, and a happy St. Augustine lawn.”
