CLEVELAND, Ohio — More than 50,000 customers across Northeast Ohio were without power late Monday morning after a fast-moving line of thunderstorms swept across the region.
Cuyahoga County accounted for roughly two-thirds of the outages, while thousands of customers also lost electricity in Lake, Geauga, Summit and Lorain counties. The storm delayed the Akron Zoo’s opening and left a broken utility pole, wires and tree damage blocking part of a road in Rocky River.
PowerOutage.us reported 52,770 customers without electricity across Cuyahoga, Lorain, Lake, Geauga, Summit, Portage, Medina and Ashtabula counties shortly after 11 a.m. The figures can fluctuate as utilities receive new reports and restore service.
