CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A line of severe storms raced across the region Monday afternoon with damaging winds, spotty hail, heavy downpours and frequent lightning. Many remain without power, in the wake of those storms. A few showers possible late tonight with lows in the muggy low 70s for most locations and some fog. First Alert Weather Day – Tuesday – for the threat of more severe storms.
Tuesday
Tuesday could start with some clouds and even a few showers early, then sunshine and another hot, humid afternoon with highs in the low 90s. Some severe storms possible during the afternoon and evening. A level 2 (Slight) risk out of 5 for severe storms Tuesday. The main threat damaging wind gusts 60-70 mph and some spotty large hail. In addition, some locally heavy rain and lightning with any storm. Remain “Weather Aware.”
7 Day Forecast
We have a slow-moving cold front to our north, which by the end of the week will try and push south of the region. The rest of the week will feature daily chances for scattered showers and storms. Coverage will vary each day. Temperatures in the hot 90s through Thursday, then back in the cooler 80s for Friday. We will continue to watch the trends for the weekend. It may turn out not as humid and largely dry.
