Camp Mystic flooding victim’s parents accuse defendants of ‘forum shopping’

The parents of Cile Steward, the 8-year-old Austin girl never found after a flood swept her away from Camp Mystic, is asking a federal judge to send their wrongful death lawsuit against the Texas Hill Country retreat back to state court, accusing the defendants of “forum shopping.”

Will and CiCi Steward also accused the camp’s owners of trying to avoid potentially adverse rulings by State District Judge Maya Guerra Gamble, who originally presided over the case.

They are asking U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman to return their lawsuit to Guerra Gamble’s court, where it had played out for five months and a trial had already been scheduled…
