Nebraska’s largest music festival, Maha, returned to the RiverFront in Heartland of America Park in Omaha on Saturday, August 8. Maha moved its location from Aksarben to the Riverfront last year after taking a year off in 2024.
Maha included performances across multiple genres of music, featuring artists Wet Leg, Bright Eyes, Killer Mike, Blondshell, Whitney, David Nance & Mowed Sound and Carver Jones. Maha said English rock band Wet Leg was most requested to headline by voting fans in a poll conducted by the festival last fall.
Bright Eyes, Killer Mike, Blondshell, local artists stand out
Omaha native Carver Jones kicked off the festival just before the storm rolled in. He played a killer set, full of new and classic original songs. Jones also played an unreleased song called “Nebraska,” which is only fitting for a festival in the state.
Jones’ growth over the years has been exciting to watch. To see an artist who has played at Lincoln venues like Duffy’s Tavern and The Bay perform on the same ticket as indie sensations like Bright Eyes and Wet Leg is incredible. Jones’ EP “8” debuted on Friday. It’s clear that his career is finally taking off and fans should look forward to what he does next.
This was not David Nance’s first appearance at Maha. He first performed at the festival in 2018 with his band. It was exciting to see him perform at the festival again, and his set fit the festival’s folk and rock aesthetic perfectly…
