Denver Water is helping restore the landscape at Riverside Cemetery in northeast Denver.
The historic cemetery is celebrating its 150th anniversary and plans to transform the grounds with grasses and wildflowers that can thrive on what Mother Nature provides in terms of moisture; no supplemental irrigation needed.
The public got a chance to view the new plans and tour the grounds on July 25.
Denver Water is providing funding for the project through its Landscape Transformation Assistance Program and working with Matrix Design Group to evaluate different plant species at a test area before seeds are planted across the cemetery.
