‘The Hopper is our wheels’: Microtransit growing across North Carolina

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Communities in North Carolina continue to use microtransit services. Holly Springs in Wake County recently launched the Holly Springs Hopper.

It features on-demand public transportation that can be arranged by phone or an app. The service will pick the rider up wherever they live within the perimeter and get them to the destination.

Riders typically pay a $1 or $2 fee, but seniors aged 62 and over ride for free…
