WARRICK CO., Ind. (WFIE) – Warrick County area planning commissioners faced a room of concerned residents Monday night as details emerged about a proposed data center known as “Project Zora.”
County leaders said they met with the development team for Project Zora last month. The developer has control of about 1,200 acres of reclaimed mine land in northern Warrick County. Area planning commissioners said they have not made any approval at this time.
No application filed, no NDA signed
During the meeting, commissioners confirmed that no site review had been requested and no applications had been submitted for a data center. Commissioners also told Project Zora developers they will not sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Project Zora developers are conducting studies on environmental conditions, water consumption, power demand, noise and subsurface stability. The county is not funding the studies and requested they be made public if the project moves forward.
Residents voice concerns
Residents who spoke at the meeting said that while they are satisfied the commission will implement a 180-day deferral ordinance, many remain concerned about a data center in a rural area…
