MERIDIAN, Idaho — West Ada School District is rolling out a new framework for the 2026-27 school year aimed at reducing unnecessary student screen time while making device use more intentional.
The district calls the initiative “Intentional Device Use and Screen Time” and describes it as the latest step in a multi-year effort to evaluate how technology is used in classrooms.
The first phase began during the 2024-25 school year, when West Ada restricted personal cell phone use during instructional time. During the 2025-26 school year, the district reevaluated its one-to-one device program with input from teachers and district leaders.
