- Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice says he is ‘100% locked in’ after serving 30-day jail time for probation violation (foxnews.com)
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice recently completed a 30-day jail sentence tied to a probation violation, marking a significant personal setback before rejoining his team for the upcoming NFL season.
Rice’s probation stemmed from a 2024 multi-vehicle accident, for which he pleaded guilty to two felony charges. Additionally, the NFL suspended him for six games last season due to a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.
The probation violation occurred after Rice tested positive for THC, resulting in the mandated jail time in Texas. He began serving his sentence on May 19 and was released in mid-June.
During his incarceration, Rice focused on maintaining his mental well-being, using communication tools to stay connected with teammates and athletic trainers. He also found solace in watching shows and comedy specials to keep his spirits up.
While in custody, Rice was able to receive treatment for lingering issues with his right knee, which had caused inflammation and limited his playtime in the 2025 season. He described a routine of stretching, light workouts, and conditioning exercises to maintain his physical readiness.
Despite these challenges, Rice remains focused and motivated as he enters his fourth NFL season. He emphasized the importance of staying present and committed to the team, expressing confidence in his ability to perform alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has relied on him as a top receiving option.
Rice’s on-field production has been promising. In 2025, he recorded 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns over eight games. His standout rookie year in 2023 featured 938 yards and seven touchdowns, but a knee injury curtailed his 2024 season.
Looking ahead, Rice is determined to leave past difficulties behind and contribute fully to the Chiefs’ success. “I’m 100% locked in on what’s going on now with the team,” he said.
“I’m ready to go out there and dominate. I’ve got a good group of brothers behind me.”
