According to the latest USDA crop progress report, 66 percent of Indiana’s corn and 65 percent of the state’s soybeans are rated in “good-to-excellent” condition. While state averages place Indiana’s corn and soybean crops in solid condition, farmers in the southwestern corner of the state are seeing even better results. Mark Seib, who farms with his family near Poseyville in Posey County, notes that local conditions have outperformed broader state metrics.
“Right now, in Posey County and the surrounding counties next to us, I feel [crop conditions are] a little bit better than that,” Seib says.
