Clay County deputies arrest man accused of attacking woman and dragging her into woods during morning jog in Middleburg

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A Clay County woman’s morning jog took a terrifying turn after a man grabbed her from behind and dragged her into the woods — but Sheriff Michelle Cook says the woman’s courage and quick community action helped bring a suspect into custody within 30 minutes.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m. along Tynes Boulevard in the Two Creeks area of Middleburg. The victim, an adult woman, was jogging when she passed a man she did not recognize. The two acknowledged each other before the man turned around and attacked her, the sheriff said.

“As she passed by him, the man turned around, grabbed her from behind and pulled her into the woods nearby,” Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said…
