After enduring nearly 36 hours outside in Jacksonville’s summer heat, a dog survived being left tied to a pipe at a veterinary clinic, where a couple had reportedly abandoned him.
When employees returned, they found the dog alive, though weak from dehydration. They later named him Ralph and noticed signs that he may have tried to cool himself by digging into the ground.
What happened?
According to clinic staff quoted by Hoodline, Ralph was not discovered until staff arrived around 7:30 a.m. on August 3. They said he had been left outside the clinic at about 7 p.m. on August 1. Security footage reportedly shows a couple coming by after hours, tying him to a water pipe, and driving away.
Because the clinic did not reopen until the morning of August 3 after closing the afternoon of August 1, Ralph remained outside the whole time with no food, no water, and no one available to help him.
Clinic staff said Ralph appears to have dug a hole beside the building to get relief from the heat. Mandy Holden, a veterinary technician at Arlington Animal Clinic, said he was “lucky to be alive.”…
