CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — The City of Caldwell has confirmed that Caldwell Police Chief Rex Ingram has announced his early retirement from the department.
Chief Ingram has been the Chief of Police since 2022. The department has lauded the decrease in crime rates during his tenure, though it has not been without controversy. Caldwell Mayor Eric Philips has been publicly critical of the police chief. A leaked voice memo from then-Mayor-Elect Philips indicating his intention to fire Chief Ingram led to a Tort Claim by the police chief.
Mayor Philips released the following statement regarding Chief Ingram’s retirement: “On behalf of the City of Caldwell, we wish Chief Ingram all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his many years of dedicated service to the City of Caldwell.
