PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A person died after falling 177 feet from the top of South Falls at Silver Falls State Park late Monday night while posing for photos, according to Oregon State Police.
Investigators say the person had “crossed into a closed off area to pose for photographs at the top of the waterfall when they slipped and fell into the water below.”
Officials took live-saving measures to save the person, but they died at the scene. A search and rescue team then worked to recover the body from the base of the falls, according to OSP.
