Gainesville District 2 commission race: 3 candidates vying for Ed Book’s seat

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Three candidates are competing for the Gainesville City Commission District 2 seat which is being vacated by Ed Book, a longtime Santa Fe College Police Chief who is stepping down after one term.

Book, who also served as a Gainesville city commissioner, spent decades in the area working in nonprofit and police work. With his departure, voters will choose among a housing inspector, a journalist, and a former Marine.
