A jury convicted a Jacksonville man in a case that combined suspected dog fighting, drug allegations, and the discovery of a 9-foot alligator that investigators said was being held in an area without water.

According to News4JAX, authorities said the investigation also uncovered multiple neglected dogs, several types of narcotics, and dog-fighting equipment.
State Attorney Melissa Nelson’s office released a statement that Marquis Williams was found guilty on animal-fighting and drug charges tied to a May 2025 search of his Orlando Avenue home.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT team and Narcotics Unit detained Williams outside the house during the search. Detectives said they found cocaine, oxycodone, and marijuana on the property, alongside six neglected dogs, and “extensive dog fighting tools and paraphernalia… [after] another search warrant was executed… more evidence of illegal dogfighting was found on the cellphone of Williams.”…
