Suspect in 2-year-old’s murder accused of threatening CPS worker

Rochester, N.Y. — A man charged with murder in the death of a 2-year-old boy after what police described as “prolonged physical abuse” is facing a new charge for harassing a Child Protective Services worker during a home visit, according to court paperwork.

Joshua Velez, 30, is charged with second-degree harassment in connection with an incident July 30 on Dewey Avenue, the criminal complaint said.

Velez allegedly got into the CPS worker’s face and threatened to hurt them, the complaint said. The worker suffered an abrasion to one arm during the incident…
