An Idaho man has been sentenced after crashing his car and killing lieutenant paramedic Kody Hansen as Hansen was returning home from a shift, KTVB reports.
Eleazar Perez was sentenced to one year in Canyon County jail for misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter; 340 of those days are suspended, and the remaining 25 days can be replaced with 100 hours of community service. Perez was also ordered 12 months of unsupervised probation and monthly restitution payments.
The charges stem from a January 2025 car crash, when Perez attempted to pass a semitruck on an icy two-lane highway west of Notus, Idaho. Perez was speeding and lost control after returning to his lane, crossing back into the opposite lane and colliding head-on with Hansen’s vehicle, according to police reports…
