SPOKANE, Wash. — The images emerging from Spokane, Washington, tell a story that words struggle to capture.
Drone footage shot Monday revealed neighborhoods reduced to charred foundations and twisted metal after a series of wildfires swept through communities in eastern Washington. Hillsides once covered in green were blackened. Trees stood skeletal against the sky. Cars were left as scorched shells.
